The Laferrari wasn't just the first Hybrid Hypercar of the trio but also Ferrari's first ever Hybrid car. The Laferrari follows the footsteps of Ferrari's most legendary cars i.e 288 GTO, F40, F50 and the Enzo. The Laferrari is so good that Ferrari named it twice (Ferrari Laferrari - Ferrari The Ferrari) xD. Unlike the other 2 plug-in Hybrids the Italian uses an F1 style KERS system that captures excess power under braking or when the engine produces surplus of power and feeds it to the battery pack and then to the two motors. The Laferrari also featured active aero which today seems common as most cars have it, but back then it was something unheard of. Active rear wings deploy under braking to create drag and stop the car, while smaller pieces at the rear diffuser come out to improve downforce. With all this high-tech wizardry going on to get the maximum out of the car it meant that using all of it required some commitment and nerve. But you'll forget all that once you're in the cockpit which in ferrari fashion is dripped in CF and Alcantara, while the Manettino dial allowed you to figure out how much of a hero you'd want to feel on any given day. We'll all that madness came at price back in 2013 it wore a price tag of 10.8cr and with only 500 ever made the prices today are somewhere between 18-25cr!
The Laferrari along with the other 2 annihilated the benchmark that was set by the predecessors. They bought in a new hope, a hope that cars can still be exciting and fun to drive.. Even with batteries!
